One Night Sin – Maddy & Declan's Story (Chapter 23)

“No no no no no no no!” Maddy shrieks, shaking her head faster than fast.

“What?” I ask her. “What are you freaking out about now?”

“We can't watch that one. The Girl in the Photographs? That looks way too scary. I don't even want to look at it.”

“Maddy, it's… uh… it's just the preview image on Netflix.”

“Declan, look at it! That's so creepy. Is she wearing a mask? I don't like it. It's too scary.”

“Yeah… because we're looking at horror movies,” I remind her. “Do you not want to watch one? We can pick something else, you know?”

“No, um… keep going. Let's see what else there is.”

So I keep going. I scroll down on our TV, browsing the options. It's kind of a fast scroll, because every couple of seconds Maddy hitches her breath like she's about to scream. I figure it's easier to keep scrolling so whatever she's going to scream at goes away, but then something else pops up and she does it all over again.

“Wait, Sharknado?” she asks. “Really? Is that a horror movie?”

“Kind of. It's just sharks in a tornado, which is pretty terrifying if you think about it.”

Except for the fact that sharks could never survive in a tornado. I still think that a shark flying at you at fifty miles an hour or however fast a tornado is would be really bad, but it's more like anything flying at you that's the size of a shark and going fifty miles an hour would be equally bad.

“Um, nevermind. That sounds really scary, too.”

And… I'm pretty sure Maddy's the only one in the world who actually thinks Sharknado is scary. I probably shouldn't tell her about the sequels.

“Is that a clown?” Maddy asks, pointing at the screen. “Why's a clown movie in with the horror movies, Declan?”

“Maddy, have you watched any horror movies before?” I ask her.

“I watched a commercial on TV for Friday the 13th once but I changed the channel once I saw the a flashlight shining in the first guy's face.”

“So… who do you think the villain of the movie is?” I ask her.

Seriously, she has to know this one. Right? I can't be asking a lot here.

“Um… is it the guy who was shining the flashlight in the other guy's face?” she asks. “Declan, I don't like this. I don't want to think about it. How can you even see who's coming after you if they're shining a flashlight in your face? That's the worst part.”

“Alright, so… you know what we're going to do?” I ask her.

“What?” she says.

“First, we're going to change the genre to…”

I flip through the selections quick. I guess the “faith and spirituality” option has merit, but what else do we have? Comedies? Dramas?

“How about a romance movie?” Maddy asks. “Just not a sexy one or anything. We can't go watching Fifty Shades of Grey, Declan.”

“Yeah, so… first off, I'm not watching Fifty Shades of Grey with you, regardless,” I tell her.

“Wait, have you seen it before?” she asks.

I deflect. “Maddy, can we please pick a movie? The pizza is getting cold.”

“Um, we're not watching Sex Doll, either,” she says. “Wait, what's that even about?”

Because, I don't know why, I click the thumbnail so we can read the synopsis. It's just a movie about this high class escort and some guy, and who knows what happens. Dramatic stuff or something.

I keep going afterwards, browsing downwards. I artfully dodge past Magic Mike, then Strictly Sexual, and finally we're at some movies that probably aren't too sexy, so…

“Oooohh,” Maddy says, cooing at the TV.

“What?” I ask her.

“Can we watch Safe Haven? It's based on a Nicholas Sparks book and it's got Julianne Hough. I really like her. She's such a good dancer.”

I click it, then I pick it. I'm sure it's fine. It looks cute, I guess. I've watched plenty of chick flicks to know when a movie looks cute. That was in the past, back when I was trying to do the whole Netflix and chill thing, inviting girls over, putting on some romance movies, and then doing a little romancing of my own.

And… wait, why am I watching this with Maddy again?

I mean, yeah, I'm a changed man, and Maddy's my stepsister. That hasn't really stopped me from thinking about things before, though. And I'd be lying if I told you I hadn't been thinking about things since our fateful encounter in the church earlier this morning.

Which, alright, so… Maddy had a sex dream about me? I heard it, she confessed and everything. I wish I hadn't heard it, but I did, so now I have to deal with it. Hearing it's bad enough, but now you want me to watch a romance movie with her?

Yeah…

I can do this. Man up, Declan. Resist temptation. Do not fall. God, please give me strength. It's not like I even need that much. I just have to sit my ass on the couch, eat some pizza, maybe a handful of reuben fries here and there, get some brownies after, and I'm good. I literally don't have to do anything. Just do nothing but sit here and I'm all set, so…

Yeah, well, yeah…

“I'll get the plates!” Maddy says, hopping up off the couch. “Do you want anything to drink, Declan?”

You, Maddy. I want to drink in all of you. I want to taste your lips on mine, slide my tongue down your throat, teasing it over your collarbone and lower to your breasts. I want to taste every last inch of your stomach until you're writhing beneath my mouth. I want to taste lower, to your clit, and lower still, lapping at your sudden arousal. I want to taste–

“Maybe an orange soda if we have it?” I ask her.

“Is diet alright?” she asks. “That's what I drink, but I'm the only one who drinks it.”

“Diet's fine,” I say, looking over my shoulder at her and smiling.

“Declan! The movie!”

“Sorry!”

I hit pause on the remote, then I rewind it to the beginning again. Maddy comes back from the kitchen with a stack of paper plates and two cans of diet orange soda. She hands me one can, places the plates on the table next to the pizza box and takeout container with fries.

Then she just plops right down next to me on the couch, way closer than before. Like, really close. There's an entire couch for her to sit on, but she has to sit half an inch away from me? What's up with that?

“I can't reach the pizza from way over there,” she says with a shrug.

“I didn't say anything, Maddy,” I tell her, shaking my head.

“You were giving me a weird look.”

“Can I start the movie again?”

“Let me get my pizza first!” she says, pushing a paper plate at me. “You, too. Wait, do we need forks? For the french fries?”

“That would probably be a good idea,” I say. I slide off the couch before she can. “Don't worry, I'll get a couple. You can start the movie whenever.”

“When you get back,” she says. “Hurry up. I really want to try these fries. They put pastrami on them? That sounds amazing. Why haven't I had these before? Ugh.”

I laugh and shake my head. Waltzing into the kitchen, I open the first drawer with all the utensils and snatch out a couple of forks. Before I had back to the living room, I give the cooled pan of brownies a sidelong glance. Dessert before dinner? Don't mind if I–

“Don't you dare!” Maddy says, pointing at me with one accusing finger. “Those are for after dinner, Declan!”

Wow, Maddy. Really? Like you didn't lick the bowl clean after you made them?

I'd like Maddy to lick a few other things clean after she's done with them, but that's a story for another time. Or not, because it's never going to happen. Sorry to burst your bubble on that one.

Never say never. That's what they say. Maybe I should have listened to them.

This is bad. You don't even know yet, but it's bad. Trust me.

I head back and offer a fork to Maddy. She offers me a plate of pizza in return. That's all normal. Lots of things start off normal. Just me and Maddy, watching a romance movie, eating pizza and french fries, hanging out. Perfectly normal.

Yeah…

(The next chapter is available now!)
Since I've been away for a couple weeks and dealing with catching up after being sick, I'll be updating this one within the next couple of days! Keep an eye out for one or two more chapters this weekend. ^_^

~*~

I put it right above, but I just wanted to say it again that I'll be posting more this weekend. I'm going to be writing as much as I can today and some of tomorrow, along with Sunday, so I'd like to hopefully get two more chapters up. There's some, um… intense ones… coming soon, so…

This won't be a regular thing, but I know I've gotten behind schedule with this because of going to the RWA conference in Disney for one week, and then basically as soon as I got back home I was sick for another week, so… not fun at all. Sorry about that one! I don't like it, either.

The next few chapters are going to get interesting, though. I have a few surprises that I've kind of teased at, so that's all coming together shortly. I don't know how to explain any of this without giving it away, haha. I just think you're going to like it! It'll be fun, and Maddy and Declan will do things, like finishing watching their movie, eating the brownies, and who knows? I mean, I know, but I can't tell you yet. This is hard, haha. I want to, but…

Please keep an eye out for more very soon, though! I promise it'll be worth the wait. I might end up labeling one of these chapters extra steamy and NSFW, so be prepared for that. Don't read it on the bus if someone's reading over your shoulder, I guess. I like reading on the bus, but I also hide what I'm reading from everyone, haha. They'll never know!

I hope you liked this chapter and I hope you're looking forward to the next couple! I'm excited!

Thanks so much for reading Maddy and Declan's story!
